La embajada de Madrid, la séptima en el ránking de Wikileaks

En total, 3698 cables emitidos desde Madrid. Aunque habrá que esperar para ver de qué se tratan. Las comunicaciones diplomáticas de EEUU publicadas por Wikileaks con respecto a España irán saliendo en las próximas semanas según explica la organización en su web.

Por el momento hay un cable que se remonta al 12 de mayo de 1986 titulado 'Represalias de Gadafi contra las expulsiones de España'.
La comunicación se refiere a la expulsión del cónsul en Madrid por "proveer fondos a un coronel de la extrema derecha". Como respuesta, el régimen libio habría reaccionando echando de Trípoli a los cónsules comercial y cultural en Libia.
Javier Barrionuevo aseguró al personal diplomático estadounidense que el Gobierno de Felipe González no iba a expulsar a ningún otro miembro de la embajada de Libia.
En el cable se explica que el Gobierno de España, ante la inminencia de elecciones quería demostrar a la opinión pública su compromiso en la lucha contra la extrema derecha y el terrorismo.
También, que bajo ningún concepto querían "convertirse en objetivo de Gadafi" y que pretendían "mantener las relaciones lo mejor posible".
